Will mark 2 gti calipers / rotors fit on a mark one gl ???

My mate just did this conversion from a mk2 jetta cli, mk2 models may vary but its not a simple change over he had to change wheel hubs, lower ball joints, steering arms, brake lines and modify the struts to fit the mk2 hubs was a 2 day operation and alot of swearing lucky there was a then complete mk2 jetta on hand.
