165/50 15's who runs them besides dom?

Wondering if any one on here is running 165/50 15's on thier mach 1 ? need rubber for the Ronals i just bought but not sure if im lower enough to pull it off .I need to daily this thing and dont want to sacrifice anymore comfort at he mo it just tucks 175/70 13's
From what i can work out i'll have a 12.5 mm air gap between the Guards and rubber how its sits now going lower is not an option yet (need strutt top spacers ball joint extenders drop plates to retain some suspension movement)

Are you that low you sort of need to notch the subframe and strengthen the sump? I though those things came first.

Having mates at a tire shop is cool, because I've learnt to fit tires myself and can just rock up and try sizes haha.

Yeah would have like to have had some other things done before the wheels purchase but they where the right price and now i cant just have them sitting there in the corner.....wheel see how the look sat tyres are ordered should be in 2 moz $96 fitted and balanced for the Nankang's in 165/50 15's have to be happy with that.Before anybody startys dissing the Nankangs anything will be better than the 13s i was driving on and i cant justify spending double that on Bridgestones

As long as it's not going to be a sports car... or need grip in the wet... Nankangs are fine.

nankang NS2's are fine. I had them on my car and wouldn't hesitate to buy them again for another mk 1 that hasn't been designed to tear up the hills or the pavement!

I run 195/50 15's on the Cabby. They ride alright, bit hard..but look good. Handle well too. They don't fill the arch as much but with 15's you can go pretty low without smashing the sump.

50 15s wont be that low.... i had 45s in mind for my 15s when they arrive.

people run 50 13s!!

only problem is there's no skinny profile that's lower than a 50. The smallest tyre sizes I know of (that we can get in Oz easily) are 165/50, 175/50 and 185/45, maybe even 195/45 and of course 195/50. All 15" tyres. a 185/45 will be rather chunky on a 7" (wont buldge though) and isn't good enough for ultimate lowness. given the goal of going really low, and not wanting any rubbing issues etc, I'd got for 165/50'.

as a daily i couldnt do it... the rims that ya see all this stretch on would be worth a mint, and there is no protection between road and rim... where as id much prefer a "standard" tyre say 195/50 on a 15" rim... atleast the tyre has a chance of stopping rim from damage.

Not saying i wouldnt own a set of BBS rims with silly stretch , just not for everyday

hell I would. Just dont be careful with gutters and parking! very minimal chances of getting them damaged jsut while driving around imo.

i got minimal rash on one of my mesh rims i had on my corolla, 15x7.5 with a 185/50 tyre. and i never hit anything, or rubbed against anything. but still got rash and small chips from daily driving... if it was a weekend car, or a second car then yeah... but on a car i drive every day with the wife and kid, i have to compromise... as it is, current combo is a little harsh
