  • Thinking of selling mk1 golf...

I have an opportunity to buy back my first ever car (which I still have a bit of a thing for), a 1976 chrysler galant, rather cheaply too (as it is in the family) so this is making my decision a little easier.

After thinking long and hard over the last couple of weeks I'm actually considering parting with my first 1976 mk1 golf 2 door swallowtail if the offer is right.. To me, I wouldn't be happy with it unless it was built the way I want it to be.... and that is thousands and thousands of dollars down the track.. which I can't afford right now and I have many other priorities at the moment (unfortunately). But to someone else, it would be a great car.. I'd rather see if anyone from these forums wants it first because I know you're all crazy about them

Car has rego, new tyres, new muffler, new plates, etc just passed roadworthy inspection.. if you want more info, feel free to send me a private message or simply reply here to this thread... basically I just want you guys to throw some offers at me!

I also have another mk1 golf that I used for a few parts to pass the roadworthy.. it's not in great shape, but if you can haul it, you can have it.

    Here are some pictures

Always a tough decision to make.

You really need to put a price on it that you are happy to sell it for and only sell it for that otherwise in my opinion you are going backwards.

I'm sure someone in TAS will snap it up. I don't mind the look of it, so I am sure some others will too.

Yep.. sure is a hard decision.. I have a price range in mind, but want to see some offers too.. as I'm still sorta hesitant.
glad to arrange for people to check it out in person also, and take for drive.. I've used it for a daily for the last year..
would also make an ideal project..

To be honest you won't get offers as high as your asking price so your best to put the price you want out there so people know what the ball park is.

        Saves everyone grief.

Here's some info for anyone that's interested:

Car has a 1986-1989 1.8L engine, new muffler, new windscreen, has recently had coolant, oil and oil filter change, new oil pressure switch, spark plugs, leads, fuel lines replaced,
fuel filter, had the electrics fully gone over by EFI. Runs really well. Tyres are nearly new on hotwire wheels, suspension is all in good order. There's a bunch of other stuff like new windscreen washer, etc. New registration plates, and registration until December. Roadworthy inspection cleared couple of weeks ago!

In the pics you may notice some primer/spray putty, there was some rust in these places that I wanted to cover
up to stop from being exposed and getting worse.. haven't had the chance to put the paint gun to it yet.

There are a few minor defects like some of the window seals may need replacing shortly, there's some rust here and there, wouldn't be
too difficult to repair. It did have some rust in the floor which has been repaired. It has a very slow oil leak, which doesn't seem to be a problem. I top it up once a month or so.

This would suit anyone who wants a reliable roadworthy daily car or a project... I'm asking $2,400 O.N.O.

you will regret it mate!! but if you sell, don't sell it to just anyone. sell it to someone who will love it and look after it!
