  • Pedal rubber needed

Don't suppose anyone has an accelerator pedal rubber kicking about that they'd exchange for some beer?

I've only been able to find the ones that go on the brake and clutch pedals (the aftermarket chrome pedals won't get through the roadworthy in a couple of weeks).

Thought i'd ask on here before I go trawling the state for one...

I should have bought a heap from eBay - I got a set from mk1autohaus on eBay - the only place I could find the accelerator pedal anywhere was there.

Are they even a factory item? none of my mk1's have ever had one.

My early Mk1's never had them, but the cabrio ( 93 ) does.
        Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

yeah, I really don't think early golfs had accelerator pedal rubbers?? so you're taking it in for a roadworthy inspection? is it stock or been modified? if you want a list of all the components the mechanic will check, let me know

                Ta Stephy, replied to ya.

@dviflx - it's fairly modified, if you've got a checklist i can swipe that's more comprehensive than the VicRoads VSI document (#26 I think) i've been using, that'd be awesome.

dunno if it's more comprehensive or anything, it's just a list of all the basic components they check... I'll PM it anyway just so you have it!

bit bit of 120grit sandpaper also works if you dont like your wet shoe slipping off the pedal rubbers!

The 75 and 76 models did not have a rubber pad on the pedal.

From 77 onwards there are pedal covers shown in the catalogs although the parts listings that far back are incomplete.

From 1980 onwards part number 171 721 647 is shown for both LHD and RHD pedals.

There's a couple of different pedals with different cable attachments at the top.
