mk1 16v

Today i have just come across a mk1 16v golf , will give you the basic info regarding this car !!

1980 4 door

as he has told me via phone , it has been stripped to bare metal and resprayed , the interier has been refurbished , running mk2 16v gti engine and 5 speed gearbox and mk2 g5ti front and rear brakes .

also has lowering springs , unsure of specs there , has won awards ect....... the golf is way down in the country , so i have never seen it around perth !!!!

Its for sale !! but with a price $6000 . so my girlfriend is selling her xr6 so she can get this , but going to go down and do some negotiating with him .

Does anyone from perth know about it , or seen this mk1 ????

it was advertised , the guy who is selling is 65 years old and isnt that clued on about email and digital pkotos lol , but want to get down there asap !! joe at golfwagen had some pics but he cant find them ..

Yes I have seen it and know Frank personally, bout time someone purchased this car as its been sitting way to long. Frank has got more Mk 1's than the regular black duck on here. I will see if i still have the pics from my last visit.

From memory there was a zender copy, a rabbit convertable that had been in a prang, a backyard convertable conversion and about another 4 cars outside..

I drove all the way down about 250km one way to Frank's Place on a sat to test drive this car the first week it was on sale.
I took the liberty of taking some pics!
Further than that, its paint is not great, cracks pretty much everywhere on the roof and yeah just looked like too much effort for me.
Besides I was not overly impressed by it. I.e. it was not that fast, and didnt have much pull.
Probably because the engine needs a tune.
The interior is reasonable, not original but re-apolstered, the steering linkiage may need replacing as it makes a funny sound it you turn it to extremes.
Yeah Frank's place is a bit of a graveyard for mk1s, he had a total of 4 mostly complete ones there on his property.
