Going to replace my battery in the Mach1 has a weber without a choke so i need it to be ready and willing for those cold winter mornings currently has a N52 but its seems fairly big for the size eng etc wondering what you guys are running
thanks L.J.
I think I had a 550CCA battery in my 2 door and then in the diesel as welll, never had issue with it. I think a good strong battery is key with old golfs, helped a few niggles with my 76er at the time. Had it dead flat and overcharged and everything, but still worked a treat. I think it was a champion.
The main issue you should be worried about is if the car is going to be sitting around for a while.
A normal sized battery is fine, you should be able to start the car a bunch of times in a row with a normal, healthy battery. If you cant then your battery isnt healthy.
Im running an optima yellow top because of the sterio, but before that i had a regular 'small car' battery and a mk1 that needed 4 goes to start and the battery was fine.
