  • Hard decision to make!!

I may be able to get myself into a nice 8v mk2 driver in april/may ish... buttttttttt
I LOVVVVVVVVVE mk1's.... (though, no one seems to be selling them in tas atm)

SO i can buy the mk2 and chuck a 2 lamp grill in it... maybe put some 8x16's on... and a set of low coilovers.. spending at least 5 grand..

OR i can byde my time and wait for fate to hand me the mk1 that will make al my wildest dreams come true...

feeeeeeling pretty torn by it all.

    suggestions???

OHHHH ps.... Chuck some pictures of sweet mk2's up if you know of any.... need to see what i cn do

    Mk2.
Not overly different in style to the mk1 and it is a reality.

Why bother waiting for a car you don't even know exists that may never come on sale?

there are alot more mk 1's out there than mk 2's, even given the age difference.

mk 1's all the way! (even though I currently have a mk 2)

Why dont you also look at mk2 GTI's...getting cheap now & would be a better daily than a Mk1

I have a owned several Mk1's (still have 2) and a Mk2 GTI....Mk2 with air con, heater, more comfortable for the win!

how much are u wanting to spend on a mk1? buying one from victoria would be a good option. they are not that expensive to get cars back across the fairy.

yeah i checked it out as i was thinking of getting one from melbs... but i'm not sure they let you take unregistered vehicles on the ferry.. and finding a registered mk1 under 3 grand is a real goose chase.. so i looked at freight.. and the cheepest i found is like 600 from depo to depo.. hmmmm got some thinking to do..

mate i will help u out as much as i can. there are heaps under 3g, you would be able to get a temporary rego from vic to drive it home (i think they last about 28days). i'd love to catch the fairy over, never been to tas. u find the car, pay for me and the car to drive over and get me a flight home and your sorted! bout $250 i reckon.

mk2's are nice, but mk1's are a more classic car imo... that is unless u can grab a 2 dr mk2

i'll keep an eye out down this way, but she's pretty bare on the mk1 front atm. i'm still spewing i sold mine as cheap as i did...

on a side note, if anyone know's of a mk1 2dr shell in tas as a project i'd be mighty interested.
