  • Replacing handle rubber seals?

I have managed to source a full set of the little rubber seals that fit between the handle and the door skin, from the US.
I went to give it a go today but I dont think the door cards have ever been taken off before. I removed the interior door release, the winder handle and unscrewed the arm rest but I could only pull 2 of the clips - they were really tough and I dont want to damage the door card. There is still the plastic sheeting in place.
Am I doing this right? By removing those items then trying to remove the door card or is there another way? I gave up - too chicken to do damage - but I really want to fit these little seals as some are missing and others are breaking up.

you don't need to remove the door cards to change the seals on the door handles, they are held in with one screw, follow the door rubber down to the inside corner of the door inline with the handle and you should see a screw behind or next to the rubber may need to unclip the rubber for decent access, the handle will just unclip out nothing is attached to it

The early chrome handles have one screw, part 16 below.

The later plastic handles have two screws, one in the same place as the chrome handles (18 ) and another (20)at the other end under the chrome dress strip. The strip needs to be prised out carefully from one end.

Thank you so much!!! How embarrassing

I thought it would have been the same as a 75 kombi, which I had done before, and this was by undoing them from the inside. I will give it another go
