  • tow bar

    my 4 door has a tow bar on it. but i cant seem to get it off and i was tempted to angle grind it but that is a desperate last measure. the bolts are rusted on i think

    Soak the bolts with oil a few times and leave for a day. Then get a big socket and rip em off.
    You need the brackets to put your bumper back on, or you have to keep the towbar. If you grind em, you`ll end up tapping the thread out, or making new brackets.

      yeh will do itll be difficult but it has to be done.

        Im not familiar with a MK4, but if you can get a way to put a little heat into the bolt (Like with and oxy) it may free itself up. You could also try getting a drift and smackin the bolt to break the tension. Or a combination of both.

          nah its not a mk4 its a mk1 four door but thanks for the advice. im actually thinking about putting the two door on the road on putting the 4 door on the race track as the 2 door is more roadworthy

            4 door has a more rigid body too, with the extra pillar!

              are you referring to racing it?? also doesnt weigh much more than the 2 door.

                Yeah, exactly what I`m talking about. Plus there are more straight 4 doors about, cos all the 3 doors have been hammered.
