  • cabrio city...

came across a Mk1 cabrio ( 93 ) that had been hiding under a tarp for a while ...managed to have a chat to the present owner and sus out what was wrong with the lil' pup..

Seems he rear ended a RAV 4 , taking the tow bar and spare tyre into the front of the cabrio.. ( sorry, no pics yet..), After checking under the hood, turns out that it only needs the front radiator support, bonnet, front guards, clipper bumper and a radiator replacing...( not really that much...) best thing is , that I have 2 wreck cabrio's, one which is the identical colour...

So this weekend i began stripping out the wrecks ( to many cars, too little space !!)

this one has no mechanicals, but most of the interior..

pretty well stripped all the top side down..

Lil bit left inside before the saw comes out..

For you cabrio owners, sing out if your after anything in particular...
    Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

    Cheers,
    Grant...

    Cabby repairs

Mate... You're a hero! Where do you find them (and the time?)?? I bet there are a lot of Mk1s in sheds around Perth. Back in the 70's they sold heaps (mostly through Regents) and I can't believe they've all rusted away.

    Looking forward to prgress pics

The grey chassis cabby was trucked from an auction house over east, found the transport doc's in the glovebox...Has had several owners since then.

the red chassis one ( no images yet) is a US spec car that has been here for some time, really rotted thru tho..all the drivetrain will be for sale, and the complete fuel system ( K jet .)

There getting harder to find in any sort of decent condition Brackie, mate still has 2 on his Bindoon farm, tho he doesnt use them any more..

yeah realy is Ben, but when you realise having the roll up window in the back seat , its just a funnel for water into the sills.. wait til you see the red chassis car sills.. , I would consider it poor design myself...there definately not supposed to be a wet weather car..

Yeah.. Tha's the sort of thing I mean. We farmed in Chittering and leased 1500 acres at Bindoon so I know the area well. I also saw lots of old cars in barns and sheds mostly put there because they broke and people bought a new one rather than fix them. There must be some real treasures gathering dust.....
