you know you own a mk1 when all those around you become mk1 lovers aswell.

... when you can drive 2000km without a hiccup, and then a run to the shops presents you with a new world of problems

... when having totally shagged rear shocks makes no difference

... when you start thinking its faster than everything else on the road (at least in some way)

... when people have no idea what it is your driving and don't understand why your going so damned fast towards that corner...

... when it takes longer to defrost than it does to actually get to where your going

Hmmm, I seem to remember that the MkI v beating the 911 was supposed to have something like 500hp, ordering to someone who posted on that before... Sounds a tall order, but 500hp in a 840Kg body would be pretty awesome

The 'ring GTI in comparison *only* had 173hp...
      Damm great sound tho

Seems like an inexhaustable supply of MkI anecdotes out there - keep 'em coming

        The way I see it.

You could spend 300+k on Mk1 & the bottom line is, it still wouldn't be as good as a Porsche Turbo.

you know you drive a mk1 when you have to drive forward a little bit every time you stop at lights, just to check you are in 1st (and not 3rd or reverse)

you know your driving a mk1 diesel when your mixture control is your left rear view mirror

you know your drivng a mk1 when you dream of having an interior light that works

you know your driving a mk1 when your speedo is accurate to 30%

So true! My car has a mystery gear box! Pick a gear any gear!

You know you drive a MK1 when some idiot calls it a Honda Civic and you contemplate throwing your beer on him!!

You know you drive a MK1 when you just want to pull over other MK1 drivers to either talk about your car...or ask them if they want to sell theirs!

You know you drive a mk1 when you pull the handbrake up and it still rolls away.

You know you drive a mk1 (w' 5 speed) when you shift hard from 4th to 5th and you get 3rd.

You know you drive a mk1 when your car sits on 2000rpm on idle....

You know you drive a mk1 when you honk the horn the rev counter bounces off red line...

You know you drive a mk1 when your car runs like a heap but can still smoke any other heap on the road.

You know you drive a mk1 when you have to keep the engine alive at the lights with the throttle.

You know you drive a mk1 when you can push start your own car with no one elses help.

You know you drive a mk1 when your dream car is a mk2 (personal experience)

Here's one i'm doing right now. You know you drive a mk1 with a 16v and 4spd and on the fourth or fifth box (no didn't buy any of them had them sitting around the garage) driving for the third week now with no 2nd gear i'm still quicker than all at the lights and not even pushing it.
                                lol
