The other car is a Toyota Corolla sports sedan the pic was taken a few weeks ago at Sandown. Mine is a Mk2 GTi with G-Max suspension, Powerflex bushes, K-Mac camber kit, strut braces, Zimmerman X-drilled discs, goodridge hoses, 15 x 7 Zenders wheels with Yokohama A032R Tyres. The Motor is stock GTi at the moment but not for too much longer. The car handles really well but is in serious need of some grunt!
at least you got the handling and brakes first what are you planning for the engine?

Great photo of your mk2 GTi but I reckon the Corolla is about to overtake.
I've run a Mk2 GTi at our local track and it went well, handled brilliantly but lacked grunt.

Sounds good. Will try and make it.
I have a few ideas: 1, Supercharge the 8V motor, 2, Convert to 16V 3, Convert to Mk4 TDi. I would like to race it in Improved Production in the Vic State Race Series if I can get it to go fast enough. Supercharging is probably my cheapest option but the 16V could be kept in an under 2 litre class. Diesel would be great because I don't think anyone races a diesel in Australia and a front wheel drive diesel car would make a change from the Nissans and RX-7s! It would be expensive though unless I can find a motor at reasonable cost.
Just out of interest I have a data logger in the car and I ran it at Philip Island. For those who know the circuit I was exiting turn 12 onto the main straight at 145kph and going through turn 1 at 5100rpm in 5th which is about 165. The poor thing just struggles for top end speed but with more power it will fly!
