its fine to reg it with only hydraulic handbrake (i have camira front calipers on the back, so no provision for cable), dosn't have to comply with ADRs, when they rego it, they have a quick look, take it for a drive (ive been told on hot rally cars they drive em under the cam, flood the motors, get scared and come back in) and sign you off.

haha wait until your first stage, the inside of the car will be covered, first wet event it will all be mud. A good tip is to seal the car the best you can (obviously), water on the floor causes fog on windscreen, and for a demister a 12v hairdryer or rear window hot wires work a treat, and tinted windscreen is great for glare (can be reg as well!)

blackgti: you want the teeth for when u are parked on a hill, so the handbrake stays on and you have ur head under the front trying to figure out what that noise is. no teeth when u pull handbrake and let go it goes to the floor

This is why WA is soooooo goood for rally enthusiasts!!!! We have it pretty good in ACT too (The hand brake advise not withstanding). We have a govt testing station that see little use since they dropped annual inspections for road cars, and I guess they like to justify their existence (and I have a mate on the inside), but, in NSW it is a nightmare!!!

          Sorry - I wasn't very clear.
I had a standard cable-actuated handbrake for normal (road) use, and a second hydrualic handbrake (with no racket) for avoiding trees

Isn't it a great feeling barrelling into a corner to know that your only chance
of avoiding that tree on the apex is the hydrualic handbrake?

            What a guy

Reminds me of a favourite saying of the rally guys in the club I used to be in - Rallying is is the only category of racing where the shell is a spare part
Mind you, this was most often repeated by one rally guy who had the distinction of perfecting the vertical park.
(and I mean that literally - it *was* a steep dropoff...)

Still, I'd be crying if I hung that great shell of yours off a tree...
