  • Scrap yards with MK1's in Melbourne

    Hello,

I'm after a couple of sections to be cut out of an existing MK1 shell to repair my car.

Does anyone know if anybody has a body kicking about that I can cut sections out.

    or

Know of any scrapyards that have any MK1's in Melbourne

I only know of Pick-a-part in campbellfield but this is a total rust bucket!

    Thanks guys

There were a couple at centre rd wreckers, but they were gone when I went on Monday. They might one day move the silver car from the front that is for sale for $900 complete out into the yard, but it has been there about 6 months so far.

What sections do you require, I have a sliced up Mk 1 here already.
          Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

There's a '76 up at Kilsyth pick-a-part at the moment.

Someone's scratched "vwwatercooled.org.au" down the side of it smooth!

Hi all..... That looks like it might be reasonable nick for a 76'er. If it has the plastic trim around the door windows it's still looks ok which is unusual, even the locking strip around the windscreen still looks chrome. Maybe it's spent a fair bit of it's life under cover. ........ Geoff

The trim around the side windows is aluminium isn't it? Atleast that's what it is on my '77??

Preeny you may well be right. They look good enough to be the alloy type. It looks like a later Aussie built LS from what I can see of the car and the front seats. If it's 76 build I thought would have originally had the plastic trim. The first Golf I bought 20 odd years ago was 6/76 build and I replaced the plastic with brand new alloy trim which I bought from a VW dealer. I think we might have to leave the final judgement on this one to P Jones the local expert in the area.
                      .... cheers ..... Geoff

I know the trim you mean Geoff, but I didn't really look that close at this one

Front panels are all pretty good, Dash is stuffed and the wiring's been hacked at.

Fuse box shows signs of water ingress.

                        Front struts are gone .

                        Nothing that remarkable really.
