  • thread of shame

    hey guys.

im making myself write this and tell you all what a fool i am in the hope that i learn a lesson.

this arvo at about 5:10 i spun my car out on the uni drive/ bypass roundabout in newcastle, doing 270 degrees and putting the left rear of th golf into the guard fence.

the damage is minimal, i have smashed the tail light, done some minor panel damage. all glass and rear hatch is fine, the car is still straight, all doors operate correctly, rear hatch still closes liek before. didnt even bend the bumper due to shape of the weird fence.

all i have really done is remind myself to be more careful and consider my actions for longer than 0.5 seconds.

please someone else young and stupid learn from my mistake.

on the upside, i'll probly have most of it fixed by the end of tomorrow.

also, my new continental premium contact tyres are amazing. these adorn my front tyres unlike the rear where i have also new but obviously far inferior hankook tyres. this in at least small part, was my downfall, as like never before, the rear tyres let go without warning, whilst the fronts still had all the grip in the world... i was waiting for understeer that never came..

this by no means lessens my guilt or stupidity.

i hang my head in shame.

    no good to hear mate

i think i bet you to it though except no panel damage but rear suspention damage and a flat rear tyre

spun out overtaking 4 motorbikes (in a line) at yarra blvd taking a u-turn like bend at over 100kph the back became light and i spun up a hill missing many BIG trees

very slippery for my ****ty non directional tread firestone "fuel savers" that give me no grip wat so ever in 1st and 2nd..... i want new tyres.
closest i've come its accelerating way to hard around a corner in the wet with my fronts ablaze understeering me ever closer to the gutter... lucky i lifted off... not a close call but im learning the limits of my car.
it grips better now that i upped the tyre pressures.

The back spun out i was going sideways for a bit then i got grip and rocketed off onto the grass and smashed the rest of the lip off.

i was in the passenger seat when we went for a little spin... it was kind of funny when a car came around the roundabout behind us, because it stopped, but i was facing the driver of the other car.. i didnt know wether to wave or laugh or look apologetic.. so i just tried to act natural and avoided eye contact till aydan started back up and drove off.... hahah.. worst bit was driving away from the roundabout not knowing how much damage was done... just glad he doesnt drive a beema or merc

well i've had a productive tuesday. man, even if i had comp insurance, it wouldnt have got my car fixed as well, cheaply and fast as i just has been. im about 3 coatings and sandings of primer filler away from no visible damage....

                            buggered tho!

also, the crash folded my tailpipe a bit, so i took off the rear box and put a straight 2.25 pipe instead for the time beign - sounds awesome!

                              young and stupid

good to hear no serious damage, i have had some good spins in my road golf on 1 night, when i was 17 and bored, about 2am on a weeknight after a big storm, i went out testing my handbrake skills, very tight left hander (about 100deg corner), got on the happy brake, put it sideways between an island and a curb kind of traveling backwards on the wrong side of the road, and missed everything!!

and quite a few of the old, do an extra lap of the round a bout cause you couldnt get it out the exit you wanted.

the worst is my falcon, i have a busted old ea falcon ex taxi, with 2 gas tanks in the back (150L), it has so much weight over the back end, that if it steps out, it drags the front around, truely a frightening experience!

I have been lucky enough not to bend a car on the road, but i bough a race car so i dont have any urges to be stupid on the road!
