Well the golf had a test today !!!
drove a good 130klm from west perth to wangara ! had to got to golfwagen to get a mk1 jack ,1 then the big drive to lancelin , up the freeway then lancelin road , then it happend
i heard this buzzing noise and looked at the dash and the oil light come , pulled up checked the oil again , and all fine the the oil temp gauge was sittting on a hundred ? it was 34 degres at the time (out side air temp ) any way kept her going , i think the oil might be a bit thin , so will do a oil change tonight , and when i turned it off i heard this buzzing noise from under the glove box ???? havent investigated this yet , ohh and the temp gauge stopped to hmmmm lol , better go through all this tomorrow .......
buzzer is prob the dynamic oil pressure unit ( hi rpm). there are 2 oil pressure switches on the engine, one low pressure 0.3 Bar, the other dynamic one is 1.8 bar.
What it means is the oil pressure is insufficient at high RPM, or a stuffed switch. I would check the oil level, and maybe the viscosity ( change the oil and filter, use the correct grade of oil ) if the switch is ok.
I use 20W 50 oil. use a Mann or genuine filter, not a ryco.
I think that would just be a terminal that jumped off 1 of the oil pressure switches. I did the same when i drove it back from the previous owner but the oil pressure gauge showed no drop in oil pressure. Got home, and saw that the terminal on the cylinder head pressure switch was off, plugged it in and it was fine after that. Both the oil pressure and water temp switch terminals is on the same harness. Check that out Shane it's just above the timing plug on your gearbox.
i got a kit of terminals today , and the fan is working fine and the oil temp is good !
still have to fit the termials for the oil pressure tomorrow , but now have a issue with brakes totally went to the floor , bled all the brakes as from back to front !! when engine is not on the pedal does not go to the floor , but when i start the car up it goes to the floor ? all vacum hoses are all good !! hmmm
master cylinder ? i cant see any brake fluid going on the ground ect ......
hey leigh why did you fly out to work today hahahah , and the left hand disk is all floppy when the brake issue happend as well , that must be a possible bearing ? it pulls to the left all of a sudden ? with a disk noise , caliper pad rubbing
not drivable at the moment !
will have some pics up soon , but the left hand front wheel goes all sloppy ? it pulls to the left !!
i did find out why it was sloppy ? when i jacked it up , i could move the wheel as if it was nearly off ???
i tightend up the middle nut and then took it for a drive and the brakes were all good ? but the nut seems to come loose all the time , there is a washer there , would it be because of the caber ? it is very negative adjustment
strange things !! hard to explain
Probably had the axle out at some stage and the nut wasnt replaced ( its supposed to self lock) or the full locking torque wasnt applied correctly.
Once the nut is loose and the thing has been driven on it will be time to replace the bearing ( no preload on the bearing causes damage)
Best you go see Joe and get it sorted, once the new bearing is fitted then go and have the camber re set to ensure you get a decent life out of the new bearing.
Have Joe check the disc, caliper and pads for damage since that was all that was holding the wheel to the car..

While your at it, change out them strut mounts
good luck bud
cheers grant !!!
thats what i seem is happening , its booked in for thusday ...
Is it a trick of the light or is the rear passenger side wheel buckled? The front one looks odd too. They look great in white, contrasts well with the black fittings. Very jealous, I keep missing the ones that come up for sale in QLD. It's probably a message from the inviverse to get one of the others sold before buying again!
Mk3 Golf Tdi about to sell
Mk 1 Golf GLD somewhere in a paddock!
Mk1 Golf Cabriolet
MK2 Golf Turbo diesel engine and 5 sp gearbox
Definately some rim damage in those pics, be a good idea to get the wheels spun up on a balance machine ( tire place ) and see how out of true they do run...
yep the wheels are not in the best shape !! bmw rims
they are ok for now until i get hold of some bbs wheels!! the golf is at the mechanics today to have a look at the left brakes and rotors .
have this question guys ! im not getting any spark from the ht lead when i take them off the spark plugs , its been like this for a while and not sure if i should replace the coil ? or maybe anything else that would make this happen ! as i dont want to be getting any parts if i dont know where the problem lies
and brief suggestion would be appreciated
im like 100klm from any mechanic where the golf is situated and i may have to hire a 4wd and a trailer to get it to wangara
