  • Half way round the world in 80 days!!!

Well after almost 3 months and nearlly 12000 miles My Cab GTi Sportline (one of only 449 sold in the UK) is here. breezed through compliance,RWC and then Vic roads pre rego check. But not for the faint hearted as a few issues along the way. I guess some of the Road worthy rules are as clear as mud and totally contradict Vic roads.
But never the less my VW and I are now back in the same garage.

I can now enjoy the Australian sunshine in it. Not sure which rims to run to day of the VW in Nov. The Porsche winter wheels in the 3rd pic are rare as and suit almost any mk VW.
Oh and I've told the vellster to get his over.

Thats awesome news mate, did you have the LHD Swallowtail too?

How did you get it here in the end, on a RoRo or container?

Just make sure you keep it out of the sun as much as you can, keep your dashboard treated and keep a sunshade on the inside of the windscreen. The sun can be very harsh over here on interiors and paint etc, i'd hate to see your dashboard crack.

Its awesome getting your car sent over, bought back memorys to me

Agreed with you on that, mine came in a sole use container, the name of the shipping company was appropriately named Karman shipping, had to be a sign!!

Good point i think you can get dashmats for those, not sure where though, hopefully some one will chime and let you know.

Have you met any of the Melbourne guys yet? They're a top bunch of guys, Dom (WABIT) is always going out of his way to help people and does alot for the 'scene' in Aus, awesome bloke

                          Hey Dom hows things

I thought I might be and yes it did cross my mind to sell them. I tell you what though I had em on my 75 swallowtail There ET 65 and run 30mm spacers and boy they look the tits.
Trouble is, including spacers they owe me way more than I reckon I would get for them over here.
