They are out there, but most have been flogged, crashed or had the tops cut off to make cabrios! Thats why there are more decent 5 door ones kicking about. 5 door ones go just as fast I look for 2 years for a decent 2 door and then found a rust free 5 door with 70,000kms on it. It wasn`t a hard choice

as Loon said, find a nice 4 door (or 5 whatever u prefer to say) buy that and if your really keen on the 2 door look... weld the rear doors shut and put in a 2 door style rear window ... that'll do the trick

I stumbled across mine parked up in a Midas down town. Just lucky I reckon.

              Haha, i like this idea.

Alright, so if i find a 3 door over the next few months, i should just snap it up for fear of not finding another one.

              Thanks for the hasty replies...

i also noticed that in the classifieds Valver was selling his interior, and he has harnesses on his seats... i thought these were illegal?? Please someone, prove me wrong!

Well im pretty sure in NSW that the harnesses arent street legal but some people who genuinely use them still keep their original retractable seatbelts for road use. I have no idea about other states tho.

                  I think you're correct there. It's a bit of a grey area.

ADRxx of 1976 states that inertia reel belts must be fitted.
Road rules states that seat belts must be worn.

Interpret that as you see it

It depends where you live Mine passed a roadworthy and he didn't even mention the harnesses - they were more concerned about other stuff I didn't think would even matter...

its so much a subjective thing - i got turned down today for having a toggle switch for my fuel solenoid, where its passed last year. then they miss my not working brake light and dont test my washer/wipers... or even look at seatbelts!

I just drive round garages till I find one thats not busy and who look like they want my pink slip money. If the car is a bit ropey, I take it to a tyre place with one bald tyre. You buy a tyre off them and they overlook other stuff.

My mate has a Mk1 2 door, red, registered non rusty, and original that is up for sale soon. $1000 was being bandied about. Talk to Edison

what are you plans with the two door?

there was that green 4door with the SC motor in it ready to go. I've seen the car and have to say have never seen a golf body that good bar 1990-1993 MKI cabrios.

But i can understand everyone wants a 2door.........

mine will be around the 7-8.5K mark if I sell it.......IM me for more details.

Should be getting it back from engineering shortly......*fingers crossed*
