Mk 1 Front shocks query

Guys, I picked up a set of front shocks/struts the other day and was wondering do these slide inside the strut tower (ie the flange that the bottom of the springs site on ??) as the ones I was supplied have no place for the spring to sit, ie they look like simple straight rear shocks.

MK1 Front shocks are cartridge inseterts.

They go inside of the front strut assembly.

I can pop up some pics later on if you need 'em.
