  • Spacers on the cheap?

    Hi Guys,

Anyone know how I can get a set of 10-15mm spacers on the cheap (atleast two, ideally 4)?
In our last VW meet, I spoke to a few people who mentioned getting a spacer from an E30 space saver wheel that fits a MK1 perfectly. Are these spacers welded onto the space saver rim? Any other info on removal process?

Any other options I should be looking at?

    Cheers

PS I did a quick search and couldnt find the answers I was looking for.

How cheap is cheap? Ebay has pairs for around $200 for 20mm.

depends on how much of a hurry youre in. I have some BFI spacers on their way. 16mm drilled for both 4x100 and 5x100.
At a rough guestimate they will be around the $135 mark per pair. ETA is about 2 weeks at this stage.

Not in a super rush at this stage. Will let you know if I'll get a pair soon Tim, as that price is very good. I assume these are the slip one ones (i.e not the hub centric bolt on ones)?

Yeah just a standard hub centric/wheel centric spacer. Not bolt on. You'll need longer log bolts for something that big as well.

have a look into the above suggestion of spacing out the stub axle as well. Thats always a great way of doing it.

Alex, the stub axle option is more expensive I assume?

I dont mind the safetly aspect of bolt on spacers, as the car will rarely (if ever) see speed above whats posted on the road, and never any high lateral force.
