      I have documentation that states that also, but I think that I found out that it was incorrect. I think that it is really around 56-58kw.


      I have just found the official VAG data.

      Early (pre ADR 27A) FN and FP for Australia is 55kw at 5600 and 119nm at 3000 (FN) and 3200 (FP)

      I think that the FP engine is for autos. (Very hard to tell now as most engines have been swapped.)

          Ok...here's the latest. Put the old girl back together with only one problem encountered... the owner prior to me (i'm guessing) liked to tighten his bolts tight...too tight and has stripped away the thread in 4 holes on the head , 1 being where the exaust manifold bolts in and the other 3 being where the intake bolts in. it looks like he tried to fix the problem with some kind of cement which i cleared away, but...because i will be running boost through this car, i think it would be wise if i took the car to an engine place to get the holes welded and re-tapped. Does anyone know of a cheap place in melb...i would do all the dismantling and re-mantling and just take him the head.

              i got a spare 1600 sitting in my garage that you can buy off me use the head lost compression in one cylinder... cheaper than getting the head re-done

                Have you thought about using Helicoils? I have in the past with great success. Another option is to drill out the hole to clear the threads, and then tap an new threaded hole. You can then drill out the manifold (or whatever) hole and screw in a new stud.

                  Helicoils are a good idea and you wouldnt need to pull the head off the car. There are blokes in yellow pages who will come and drill and fiit em for you.
                  Cost me $100 for them to do 3 broken studs on a Jaguar a couple of years back.

                    I have a few pre June 76 cylinder heads if you need, don't want much for any of my stuff, you can check it out when you come and see this dashboard.

                        Yup, you can even use em for headbolts.
                        Its basically a new thread screwed into the surrounding metal.

                            If u want u can buy some left hand drill bits even from supercheap and give it a shot at drilling it out. Might be handy to heat it up with a torch first too.
