  • Calling all Pommies!

    Hey guys,

Heading back to Uk very soon and looking for a good Uk supplier of a new convertible hood and headliner. Any links or suggestions would be most welcome. Also, any idea of the weight for freight?

    Cheers

      Velly,

Just got off the phone to Jack Smith Trimmers. What a top bloke, new vinyl hood £140, headlining £50, going to see him next weds! What a great shout, I was quoted £610 for new roof (supply only) $530 for new headliner (supply only) and approx $500 to fit it here.

Going back for a fortnight and gonna chuck new roof in suitcase!

Any suggestions for new headlights, boot liner, cloth for damaged seats, new rear badges, karmann side badges??!

      Thanks a lot Velly

            I saw a site called www.status-vw.co.uk

They had hood linings and specialize in convertibles and 2 door mk1's
They had window seals as well, most of em.
When I suss out how to contact them,i'll be ordering
window seals all round and probably a hood lining as well.

I got a complete kit from the USA. It was cheaper than any were I had seen in the U.K.

These are made to proper OEM spec.

The biggest problem is the interliner that fits between the top and the headliner. These often deteriorate badly and sometimes when they are not repaired the finished look can be poor, spoiling all that hard work.

They do these in black aswell and you get a choice of colour headliner either black or white.

Awesome place for these little parts (badges etc) is GPC in Luton, they're always at the UK shows with a stall that you can't get near for people crowding around buying stuff!!

The website isn't very good, click on 'Parts' on the left and enjoy!! Genuine VW Karmann side badges are 3 pounds!

Have used GPC a few times but they seem to running low on mk1 parts. We also have GSF here too. I got a a starter motor for my cabby for £59.00 as opposed to the £80-90, I have been qouted elsewhere.
