yes this is what i thought, but found a mk1 2 door diesel, it has the GLD badge, clock instead of tacho and the diesel engine. is there anyway to tell if it was originally petrol?Comment

Possibly the vin number? They came out as 2doors overseas so it may be an import?Comment

There may have been a few 2 door Diesels here. I was talking to an old guy who drove a 2 door diesel as a demo at one of the VW dealerships in 1979ish.

I've also heard of the swap being done from petrol to diesel.
it wouldn't be hard, esp if you have a complete donor car.Comment
