Central Brake Light Mk I Convertible

Guys,

Sure you can clear this one up quickly........

I have seen a 1992 Mk I convertible without a brake light above the boot entry button on the rear of the car.

I have seen a 1993 Mk I convertible with a brake light above the boot entry button on the rear of the car.

Why on one and not the other?

Yes I know Aus models have it, but some UK models don't.
