I've owned a mk1 golf for around 5 months now and am pretty much sick and tired of having no one to talk about these cars, no discredit to this website which is fantastic but I'd like to see other Mk1 golfs and talk to people in the flesh about just great cars. I live in Sydney and am willing to drive anywhere, dont care really where, as having a one friend with a Hillman Hunter which keeps breaking everytime we want to drive, and another who has a 66 mustang who is to precious with it to even drive it. While all along the golf hasn't missed a beat. So any info if any would be much appreciated.

Also I've got some ratty old metal bumpers off my mk1 which I would like to get rechromed and straighten as although I've replaced them with the plastic ones, I'd still like to keep the old ones just for originality sake. If there is any info on where I can go or what price, I'd be happy to know as I love my water pumper.

Also it was a real shame more people weren't at the 100,000th golf photoshoot on the weekend in anticipation of the eventual sale. I turned up thinking I'd finally see some more old golf's and there drivers to talk to and there were only a couple. one a original mk1 gti black golf, awesome to see, a diesel golf, and a mk2 gti. Although there was a nice mk3 rally car owned by stephen muller, one of only 20 made, sounded awesome.

There are Dubsteve with a Mk1 cabrio, myself with a Black Mk1 Golf that you saw last Saturday GolfLoon with a original Mk1 Gti, Mikinoz with a yellow Mk1 ... etc

Were you the one with that red/orange Mk1 ? look very nice.

Hi Dan, I missed this thread. There a a few MK1's about as noted.

I can't help about the chrome refinishing sadly.

I'm interested in doing a run to Pie in the Sky soon maybe in a fortnight - anyone else interested?

* sorry I should add that there really is not a VW Watercooled club, as this site is used as the reference point by Aussie Vee Dub to help them with that section at the Nationals etc.

Get it rechrome and straighten will cost a lot, I've got 2 brand new chrome bumper bar only, if you are interested let me know.

Pie in the sky is in Cowan is it or not, and ill be up for it, as long as it is a day im not working (Saturday). Also info on those chrome bumpers and price would be great as virtually impossible to find them locally or internationally
