i came across this today, looks like it would be a bit of fun

"It is stupidly quick, torque steers like mad, the steering clonks and everything trim wise rattles as expected from a 27 year old car but an absolute hoot to drive"

hahaha. all i would do is change back to the original tail lights, chuck on some 15×8 superlites and bang the race seats "WABIT" has into it.

just thought you may want to have a look,
    tom.

ohh .. sweet... all u need is to revert it back with 'stock' look and you'll need an importing license

        nice mk1...

I found a shipping company charging 780pounds for shipping from UK to AUS.

ans they pick the car up from the owners house.

        cheers

I'd be more than happy to collect it and drive it over for you (you'll have to cover fuel & ferry costs tho').

yeah i really wish i could but just as 16v_kid pointed out, i would end up paying 1/3 of the total cost of the car in shipping costs!!!
i really like some of the mk1s' and mk2s' they have in the UK, alot of them are really nice rally/race setups like this one http://www.clubgti.com/FORUM/showthread.php?t=174736 miiiinnnnttt!!!! oh i wish there was one setup like that for sale here in NSW. i just don't have enough time to build up something like that with school work etc.
well it looks like i'm just going to have to go and live there for a while and have a nice vw while i'm there

            tom.

I'll pay the ferry fees as I have a heavy right foot!!!! Seriously, what would that go for over there?? I'd say it's worth around £3k over here but they're alot rarer over there so should be worth more. With shipping would surely break even at least?? Oh, the front seats may have come out of a Mk2 but they are Mk1's (unless they differ from photo).

well 3000GBP is about 6000AUD now and i wouldn't know how much it would go for over here...maybe $5K but i wouldn't be willing to pay that much for it i'll give him $4K

If I had £2.5k to spare I'd have it
But I'd put my the lights & grill off me cabby on, some smoked rears and 15" BBS RMs (black / chrome) (add another £1k )
