brake warning light issue

quick one guys.

The warning light on my dash is on. It's the brake warning light above the handbrake light.

how do i get this to go off, or rather what causes this to go on???

Dom's suggested air in the lines, so i'll re bleed them later is afternoon with stu's help, although he doesn't know that yet.


any ideas guys??

When I had this issue I had to change the slave master cylinder at the back it was spitting oil everywhere

i don't think it be that steve, would have been picked up by the guys at the roadworthy test.

They come on occasionaly.
To get them off, disconnect the battery leads for 10-20 seconds

Occasionally during my gravel rally days years ago, after giving my Golfs a hard time the light would come on. This was usually after a bit of brake fade or whatever and must be due to a difference of pressure in the 2 circuits in the master cylinder.
There is a diode at the back of the light which needs to be de-energised by removing the battery teminals. If it happens again then thoroughly bleed the brakes again, do the battery terminal thing again and all should be fine.
