  • What's this (probably a stupid question)

What's this black thingo located in the rain tray in front of the glove box. It has a hose leading back to the carby air intake. I want to take it out to tackle the rust behind it.

    Cheers

Charcol cannister mate, all to do with the fuel breather setup on later cars to stop the fumes from getting to the atmophere.
If you get rid of it, DONT block any hoses off that go to it from the fuel tank. From memory the is one plastic pipe leading from the tank up to that?

Thanks Andrew. There is another hose leading to/from it which has been cut (bottom right hand corner of pic). I don't know what the story is there.

        Hey Steve,
You have a large and a small hose go to one end and inside the cannister its full of charcoal. This filters the fuel fumes and the L shaped pipe on the other end isnt cut, it has a short piece of hose on it that vents to the atmophere.
Not a silly question mate, its the only way to find out anything.
