Dash light stays on

hi all,
another annoying question to ask lol, but i had problems with dash lights not working before and i managed to find the problem (wire has broken away from back of the headlight switch).
since then the light won't turn off, stays on with no key in or any part of the switch on what so ever. the only reasons i have been able to come up with is that there is another contact between a battery wire and the accessory wire itself or possibly a relay problem (if there is one for the headlights?).

any other possibilities?

Is it possible that other wires going to the headlight switch may also have been broken at some stage and have been put back on the wrong terminals. I know this is pretty obvious but the wire you have reconnected to the switch must be coming directly from the battery and I would suggest that unless you have a wiring diagram showing what goes where you would be better off taking it to an auto electrician and getting it checked out or you could risk damage to something else in the process.

Yeah i think you are probably right, tho the only reason i believe it has broken in the first place, is that a previous owner has put a cable tie between two wires which has but strain on the wire at the terminal which has caused it to break away.
I'll get in there and have a look again and see if i can work something out.
But yeah i think an auto spark maybe the way to go cause i need a few things done anyway.

As for the workshop manual, i'm def getting one next week, just have to wait til pay day haha! damn you fortnightly pay!
