  • Taking off Bagdes

Hey Guys just curious to know how do you go about taking off bagdes on a mk1 I want to freshen them up if possible. As I know that they have holes.

Also are they just stuck on by a double sided tape?

I went looking for new ones and they seem to cost a bomb for new ones

    Cheers Steve

AFAIK the badges are stuck on with double sided tape. Don't know about clips or anything but there is definitely holes for some stupid reason.

CrazyQuiffs (http://www.golfmk1.co.uk/) is awesome for parts from what I have heard... Also a friendly bloke. Got a lot of rare things like GTI trim and so on. His badges range from £18 to £22.50 and compared to quiet a few others I have seen, thats pretty cheap. He also has the side stripes you were looking for.

vwturbo.co.uk also has some awesome stuff, including things like reprinted warning stickers like tyre pressure and fuel stickers.

Mk1 hatch badges should be held by these retainers

If yours are double side taped, that mean your car ex-ex-owner didn't bother to do it right, these holes are there for good reason.

Here's another source of replacement badges including some NOS (not that cheap though).

I just hated how crappy mine were and pulled them off, filled in the holes and sprayed over them.

I wish I had kept them now...

Badge Clips back on the inside of the hatch??

                      Hi All

Does anyone know how to get into the rear hatch to put these retaining clips onto the back side of the badge once back in place?

My badge had 2 clips holding it on, one was loose so I tried to see if I could push it back on but couldn't get inside the hatch. Now the second clip has come away from the backside, luckily I could get it out.

I just wanna know how to get it back on again

                      Any ideas

                      Thanks

clips go into the holes from the outside, then re-clip the badge to it, If you break them removing the badge you will need replacements.

Early convertables had clips from memory, only went to double sided tape when they changed to "cabriolet"...
                        Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

                        Cheers,
