        Mars red or "rot" is right. Citrus red was available only on 76 Australian Golfs from memory...

          i guess it's just orangie from fading not original colour style then

          :edit: Couldn't find anything in the boot.... all the original paper work just says red.

              Yeah Andrews right your car is Mars Red which is a deeper Red Citrus is more orangey as you can see with my old car vs your car

                  The GLD does look a tad darker than Mars Red actually. only a litttttttle bit though..

                        anyone got a brochure from '79 that will solve it.... guess she's just plain old red for now.

                          You should have a paint code sticker on the boot floor. It will be under the false floor on the passanger side.

                                what that saying... "assumption is the mother of all **** ups"

                                emailed the seller she wasn't much help on confirming what colour the car is and wasn't sure if the car had been resprayed or not, I'm guessing since it doesn't really look like any standard colour and the sticker which would tell me what colour it is is gone it probably was at one stage.

                                On top of that after washing it last night before putting it under wraps I found 4-5 more rust spots

                                any obvious tell tale signs I can look for that will give away a respray?
