  • RIP My Mk1

Some human scum decided to steal my car lastnight, and then not know how to drive a Mk1, hit a gutter so hard it cracked and shattered the front left rim, ripping it half under the car and to top it all off roll it. I'm bloody devastated right now, i loved the poor little thing to bits. Luckily i have insurance, anyone got a two door mk1 for sale? Here is what is left of my pride and joy...

      The little turds.
You can only hope they hurt their heads when they tipped it over.

How did they get it started and get past the steering lock?

Dont throw the wreck away, there should be plenty of bits on it to make another one great.

I feel sorry for you man, that was a sweet Mk1. At least it was insured.

I have a 5 door Mk1 16v that needs work atm, see the classifieds section
Also a Mk2 GTI Aussie Delivered one that will be for sale soon.

They look like they just walked from it, had the seatbelts on unfortunatly, wish i could scrape them up off the road.. but you get that..

I bet these assholes had some fun with her when they found out how well she went. Dad and I are planning to get the wolf 3d ecu off it in the yard before it goes to auction, if we cant, i wanna buy it back, mainly for that and some interior stuff. the problem is nrma auction off the cars so i need to discuss with them if i can get it from them or something.

Try and arrange the buyback with your insurance before it goes to auction.
If you get thm to agree a value for the wreck and take that off your settlement, at least you get the good bits back.
If they wont play, find out what auction.

sorry to hear that bro, it really is such a kick in the teeth to have something stolen but then to find it like that, you must be the angriest man alive.

that is the worst thing that could ever happen i recon. when i sold my old mk1 I spent about $4000 on it and the new owner had it a week before he blew the engine, thrashed it to bits, then he called me up and wanted cash back and i sold it to him for $1100 with rego! (I was desperate for cash)

I'll be a good idea to buy one that is more done up than stock so you don't have to start from scratch.

                    Good luck.

thanks heaps guys, im trying to figure out what i will buy, i would love another mk1, finding the right one is hard as i need something that i can step into and drive with no work required. My dad is hinting to maybe a mk3 if i can get a bit of extra money together just something reliable etc.

Depending on what i can find will also dictate whether i buy my car back from nrma, we were going to switch it accross to shannons but didnt get to it in time, then i would just get the car back no questions without having to buy the damn thing back.

Mate, sorry to hear about your mk1 & hope all goes well with your insurance. Hopefully you'll be able to find another mk1 in good condition soon. They are out there.
I also hope you'll be able to find out who it was & dish out your own punishment as the cop's will probably just give them a slap on the wrist & $150 fine. The justice system suck's arse at the moment.

Good place to start would be local GP's, hospital's etc. for recent car injury's & what not on the night they took it, to get some names.

This happened to one of my friend's car's a few years ago & we had to do our own investigation's as the local cop's are useless (It's just too much work for them to do!). Anyway we found out who it was. From what I understand he still isn't walking to well now!
