Drop plates?

Ok, first time I have heard of these products.

How do they work?

From what I have read here http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4307655&page=1 they allow you to lower the car without the need for lowered springs or coilovers? Is this correct or am I on the complete wrong track?

They're usually used on the rear of caddys as there's not many options there.

As I understand it they just relocate the rear axle higher.

So these would only be for the rears, then just chop soem springs for the front? Sounds like a cheap and easy way of lowering. Not the best way to do it but for those on a budget.

Flip the rear axle beam onto the top of the leaf springs Cam, fit some decent rear shocks and coilovers in the front. Now wheres "Gunter"......
Look out Bilsteins and coilovers, they are going to find a new home in the front of my Caddy soon!!!

Plus emailed guy who makes them in the USA, he responded with this:

"...the caddies had a different spindle pattern depending on where the caddy was made. Basically these drop plates are made only for the rear of the vehicle, I started selling them only for the caddy guys as an easy way to lower the back, now it seems that some people want to lower just the rear of ther rabbits. They work by relocating the rear stub axle upwards, which lowers the rear. It is a ½” steel plate that bolts onto the existing axle end and has 4 tapped holes either 2.5” or 3” relocated higher up. See the pics for what I am talking about"
