Hi All,

My names Darko, I'm from Canberra and very shortly will be the proud owner of a Mk1

(76 - 4 door, 1600)

Its white with a few bits that need doing but will be a very happy owner when i get it.

I'm buying the MK1 to be my new project in addition to my daily driver RS Liberty.

Look forward to asking a hundred thousand questions and posting pics of my beastie!

Hey guys, thansk for the welcome

Style wise, I was looking at the gti grill (as a starter) and then some newer wheels (when i can find MK2/3 Steelies), then maybe lower it

If i can be bothered (for now) i'll stick in a 5spd conversion

Apart from that, wanted to concentrate on making sure its mechanically ok.

I need to find out more about the engine i.e. what can be done to it (webbers etc)

It has a 2 1/4 exhaust, exhaust manifold needs replacing, clutch is good, brakes need replacing, tyres and a good cut back and polish.

If anyone can point me to stats on the MK1 1600 (i.e. models specs) would greatly appreciate it!
