  • How often do you drive your Mk1?

Ok. Sorry for the random reposts. Lack of sleep – just did an all-nighter …can’t use a forum, can’t drive heavy machinery, can’t spell words. ....Where did I put my No-Doz?!?

How embarrassing! Sorry about that - I'm not having the best start to the day!

          It's always a buzz...

I try to drive each of mine on a 50km run once a week. It's tempting to just jump in and go to the nearest shop (3km) or to a neighbouring property, but I don't like them doing short runs so I use the old Nissan 'cos she's always warm.

Even having the TDI with all of the bells and whistles I still get a buzz from driving the mk1s

When it's your only road-registered car, you've got no choice but to drive it every day!

Not that i'd ever have chosen differently.

              I'm with smithy.
But I can't drive it at the moment so my mum is using it, as her's needs a service.

                Mk 1 kilometres driven

I drove my Mk 1 every day for 29yrs until it was hit by a truck last year. It had 20,000k when I bought it in 77 and had 440,000 at the end. Who can beat that, 420,000k in a Mk 1?

                  Almost at 500k!
Still pull's like a train & can easily turn the tyre's. Over 300k on current engine. Diesel had enough a long time ago.
