  • problem...again :(

driving home... went to change gears and then the clutch didn't work...

the cable moves and the lever lifts up and down...the selectors are all working and i can select all gears (when the car is off) and then when it is on i need to rev match and the clutch won't work

    any ideas?

seriously nothing is ever going for me...

Probably needs adjusting and isn't disengaging the clutch completely.

i have the clutch cable adjusted as far out as it goes and has 2 rubber pieces to space it out...what else could have happened? there are no funy noises coming from the box and it just won't select the gears...

sound like it may be the pivot on the thrust bearing under the cover at the end of the gearbox.

Yeah, I had one go on a MK2 once. Pulled the box and fitted a clutch before I realised.......

I was paranoid for ages and kept a spare one in the glovebox incase I had it happen again. I could do it at the road side.

It's under the Green VW cap.

yup and i can just drive and just match the revs and select the next gear (not using the clutch...coz its doesn't work)
