  • New mk 1!

woot! I'm back on the horse, and in incredible style!

Picked up my new mk 1 just before, and I'm over the moon. Enjoyed driving it home so much, even if it was only 3 km down the road.

it's a '79 4 door diesel! [yay] It's pretty neat inside, brown vinyl seats, working tape deck and that's about it. Completely stock atm, Exterior leaves a bit to be desired. It's straight, but there's a fair few spots of rust that I'll have to fix up. Worst of all, it's yellow! Doh, not again. Might spray it and change colour I think.

Yep, it's one of the diesels Stu and I found the other day.

    More pics later this afternoon.

    That is all

Nup, stu's got them. The bases would have been wrong too.

                  Thanks for the comments guys.

Not sure if it'll be quick enough to put on it's lid though! Never know though

Still looking forward to the meet up on the 3rd Andrew. Donno if it'll be ready yet though. I could rush it, and get it reg'd and everything, but with christmas, money is a bit tight, and I don't want to rush fixing it!

Still have to figure out a plan of attack and what mods i'll do. Getting rid of the rust is the first task. And I should do a major service on the engine to I think. belt, filters, oils, maybe waterpump too. I think the wheel bearings are getting a bit loud so probably on thier way out, so I'll add that to the list.

Here are some more pics. really isn't pretty. really needs to be white and have chrome bumpers

ANd no, it's not reg'd, they're just the old plates.

no turbo on this. waste of time and money. I'd just blow up the 1.5. 1.6 or 1.9 are much better suited to turbo's.

might throw my extractors and 2" exhaust on though. If they'll fit/help.

                          Congrats,

One approach might be to reg and RWC as a diesel as you don't have to worry about the pollution side of things.

Once it's reg'd just slap a SEAT 1800 in it with your weber. Cheap, easy and goes like stink. Really quiet too with a hydro 8v , diesel box & sound deadening. (But I could be biased!)
