  • Blocking my heater hose

I want to stop water going into my heater core and was thinking about putting a ball valve on the outlet behind the block.

Will this be an issue, or should I divert it back so it channels back to the return line?

I don't want to cook it...

Go to Burson's & get a generic length of hose with a tight U-bend in it.

Make sure it's the same I.D. (internal diameter) though

You want something tighter than this though.

I think a XF ford may have a long heater hose with a tight U-bend in it from memory.

i have done this and you must have return flow. A camira water hose is the exact same diameter and has a perfect 180 degree bend to return the water

Could you let us know why you want to do that? I'm reluctant to have water leaking into my Mk1 when I'm done protecting the interior but haven't found the replacement heating option.

If you have warm air coming out of the vents all the time, try fitting a new valve. They wear out over time and don't seal that well, allowing water to circulate in the heater core.

I am having the hot air issue, and just think that this method will do for summer and reconnect it in winter.

But, it may lead to the core drying out and rusting? I dont know... that is why I was thinking a diverter valve. So the water stays in the core keeping it wet.

Just get a new tap, or clean the old one, they can get full of crud.

Its a very simple part controlled by a piece of wire.

              good luck.

btw, cheers for the camira hose tip. thats handy to know.

easier just to replaced the tap. On a 76er you have to rebend the cable wire to suit new taps as they were different to the 77on models.
Have one here and am travelling to Sydney on the 28th to get the caddy.

I'll be in Canberra over Christmas - how inconvenient...

You got a proper itinerary yet, maybe I can meet you on the Hume near Goulburn...
