On the right hand side as you look at it from the front of the car. There is a big screw. Turn it in to decrease, out to increase idle.sigpic Camden GTI Performance. VW / AUDI Specialists

Have you got no idle?
Check the electrical connector to the cut off valve on the side of the carby. It should click when you turn the ignition on. Wire is probably old or fallen off.
If its not that, could be timing.sigpic Camden GTI Performance. VW / AUDI Specialists

With the ignition on, remove and replace the wire. You should hear it click. If not, check circuit.
Its usually that, if not, can be the solenoid. Replace with a bolt or cut the plunger off for testing purposes.sigpic Camden GTI Performance. VW / AUDI Specialists

You could try revving it and then with a gloved hand, block the top of the carby. Might suck the stuff oput of the carby. If that doesn`t work rebuild time.sigpic Camden GTI Performance. VW / AUDI Specialists
