Very nice Mik.
I flushed and cleaned the radiator today. OMG the filthy water that came out of that was unbelievable.
Adjusted the throttle cable so the accelerator is now up off the floor and is nice and responsive.
Pulled the heater box out from under the dash, front seats out and the front carpets and sound material out so I can inspect the floors.Last edited by brasstinman; 01-04-2012, 08:23 PM.MY11 Multivan 132kW 4Motion, Natural Grey, Fog lights, Multifunctional Steering Wheel.

Well I had an interesting day. I have the car already booked in for some work and the clutch was on the list. I knew it had some issues but was hoping it would hold out til next week. It let go at a busy junction, and after my brother almost got run over exiting the passenger side (crazy ute dude mounting the island to get round us in a huff --like I'd just decided to sit there and hold him up!), we pushed it up onto the grass to take a look.
Luckily, in one way, the cable actually hadn't broken. Also lucky my bro was wearing sneaks as we had a lace to get us home!!
Once home, I took the lace off (that was half sheared already), and I've replaced them with a few zip-ties to get my to the garage.
You can see here that the clutch cable has sheared through the outer metal!!
The car has only just arrived in Auz, and still waiting for the Bentley book and a few parts to arrive this week, as there are a number of things that I need to sort out. But anyone had this happen before? This looks more major than a broken cable...Last edited by danpez; 11-04-2012, 06:57 PM.--

pretty common on the mk1 if the rubber bush that should be in there is missing.
Image for reference.
The box has to either be welded or a bushing turned up on a lathe to press into what remains of the hole.79 MK1 Golf Wreck to Race / 79 MK1 Golf The Red Thread / 76 MK1 Golf Kamei Race Car
