  • How best to incorporate driving lights

I have a LS that has had the GTI grille added with driving lights. The lights that came with it had no electrics, so I just procured some that do.

Now I am planning on wiring them in on a separate relay to the main lights but I was wondering how they would have originally switched on the gti? Was it via the stalk, or a switch on the dash?

If it was a switch where abouts and what was that switch like?

    Cheers!

BTW - hoping to have her through rego by the end of the week, mid next pending getting into a mechanic to do a couple of things. Can't wait!

On the standard GTI they were high beam's/driving light's or what ever you want to call them.

They were operated just off the indicator/high beam stalk.

They Campaign's were fog light's & operated off a switch on the dash panel.

If you want to go for a separate switch, I'd get another rear screen demister switch, wire it into a trigger for a relay & put it in the dash panel in the spare blank above the radio.

    Look's factory fitted then.

    Hope this help's.

      Great advice!

I think I will go down the switch in the dash option - mainly because there is a greater liklihood that I will like the flexibility of not having all of the 4 lights lit up under high beam on a regular basis.

      Thanks!

how about optional high beam with lights coming on when high beam is switched on or you can over-ride to switch off!

Here is a circuit diagram to put higher wattage globes into a GTI/Cabrio, just run a swtich to dash from power source and bobs....
