I Tried re-building (greasing everything in sight) but in the end the best option is to replace with a salvaged MK3 motor. Loon charged me a modest fee and it went straight in (he included a few inches of the original cable which I spliced colour-to-colour to the original loom). Worked first time and MUCH faster!!

How did you mount the motor ? AFAIK, Mk3 motor doesn't have the mounting bracket .
The best option for me is to remove the wiper cos I won't drive the car in wet but it won't pass rego

Here we go. Couldn't find it before, but it turned up right under my nose in the end.

it's a DIY from the US of how to make a mk 3 one fit. Pretty straight forward from memory..(I havn't done it, it just looked straight forward..)

The other option is just to make up an aluminum strap to stabilise the motor, it will hang off the 3 bolts that attach it to the wiper assembly just fine.
