  • Car compliments

I was out in the street cleaning the windows of my golf this arvo and a passer-by complemented me on my car. 'Nice car mate'. I must say that I get a few compliments on the golf but this was a nice surprise as it was in person and I've not been feeling so good about things lately.

    Anyone from here??

I've had a few compliments in shopping centre car parks, one guy spoke to me for like 10 min on how he used to own one and how he regrets selling it. Makes you feel so good

I once had someone in the car next to me at the traffic lights complement me (he was in a convertable, I had my window down). Pretty memorable.

On a slightly different note, not long after I got my golf I kept seeing a convertable golf parked outside a business near my house and the rego was only one number off mine. Funny after 29 years (as it was at that point) that two cars with original sequential plates should be so near each other.

Funny seeing this thread come up.

Last night in Melb. with Dom cruising around, an ex pat in a Peugeot GTI pulled up & said he absolutely loved the car.

He asked how old it was & when I told him 32 years old, he almost spun out. He honestly couldn't believe it.

He also said it's great to see old car's out & about, cause you just don't see them anymore.

              How True!

I guess mine attracts a bit of attention cos it's always parked in the street out front of my place, and the street is kind of busy and near the CBD. I guess people walk past it everyday and notice it.

I keep seeing a Sunbeam Talbot parked on my street or nearby. It's a beautiful old car. And I mean old, I've worked it out to be either immediately pre-war (late '30s) or post war. There were only about 1300 made world wide according to my research and someone uses it as a daily driver which is pretty sweet and dedicated.
