Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Catch Can Suggestions

    Hey all,

It's been years since catch cans were mentioned in the diesel forums (as it's slowly died down), wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a well priced catch can for a mk5 pd170 tdi?

Looking to install it myself so I'm hoping for a noob friendly one, a while ago Greg was importing some, has anyone purchased one recently?

    cheers

You can get it off of ebay as well. Some also sell a kit which is easier as procuring appropriate hose and connectors can be a pain.

Apr do nice kits. I’m looking for a kit for my b8 - want a proper kit with correct fittings, not generic.
              Cheers

New Universal ProVent 200 Catch Can Kit with 16mm (5/8") Drain Kit Pro Vent - www.westernfilters.net

This should work. A bit expensive but it will save you running around buying different bits and pieces (everything is easily procurable if you are willing to run around for it). As you have probably done read up on Greg's posts for info on each. Fitting in is going to be a problem, I didnt end up going ahead as at the time I didnt want to do much, but now I run my car with out the plastic cover and once I have the time will fit it in (Provent is currently in storage). I think more flexible hose and more frequent change of hose (6-8 months is better option), but you decide on what you want to do.
