  • Diesel LPG Injection 25% more power!

Has anyone considered this conversion on a MKV golf yet?

25% more power, reduced diesel consumption, lower emmissions, longer engine life, small LPG tank and Kevin Rudd will pay for 50% of the installation!

Seen this before, its very interesting indeed. The only problem i have with fitting something like this is until someone here is Aus has the software to tune our electronic injected TDI's in real time you will struggle to get the real benefits of performance and economy.
I am sure people would see some great results in a mechanical TDI though.
      Cheers,

        mmmm mechanical....

i've thought many times how neatly an LPG tank would fit in infront of the rear axle on the mk3 - heaps of room, since the fuel tank is under the boot.

Ive seen these setups whilst in Canada - but only on diesel trucks....Duramax/F250 etc, bu not on a VW TDI yet.....sounds very interesting though. Doesn't seem to be many (if any) down sides.

              This is a cheaper alternative.

Try their straight vegetable oil conversion.

wouldn't this mean that you will be paying more at the pump? A tank of diesel + a tank of LPG?

I've been tossing over it for my T4 dual cab.....but have yet to jump mainly because:
                  a) I've only ever seen the conversion done on dumb turbo diesel engines....not ones with ECU's
                  b) the local DGA licenced fitter has only just started out in the business so I'd be more comfortable going down to Adelaide.

And from what I hear.......the claims for 20% improvement in power & economy are just that........claims.

Personally, jokes aside, if I wanted to blend in another fuel, it would be a bio tank. Prices aren't going to stop, and making your own will become popular.

                        Hi Guys,
The gas acts as a catyalyst in the cylinder, causing ALL the oil to ignite annd burn..which is why there is an increase in performance.
                        See this site:

Friend told me about this last night, would love to see it done on a modern high performance diesel!

I would be interested in hearing the long term effects on diesel engines. Many 4WDers have converted their mechanical injection engines to LPG, apparently with no long term effect, but my local fitter has expressed some concern over the engine lubrication, implying early engine failures because the LPG is so dry (lower lubrocity?). However combine biodiesel (higher lubrocity than petro-diesel) with LPG, you could be on to a winner. I am told the combination of LPG with diesel gives higher efficiency because the LPG acts both as a fuel and a catalyst allowing for reduced fuel per km, the combination of the two fuels being greater than the two fuels burnt separately. However, as in all these things be wary of inflated claims!

At the dealership I used to work at, a customer used to bring a Tiguan there that was running a diesel/LPG setup. It should have done well over 120,000klms by now, with no issues.

The quality of the installation left a lot to be desired, though.
