Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

My MAP consistantly reads 1.01bar over boost (about 14.6(?)psi), but my phone will only read up to 22psi before it won't show any higher. Proper boost gauge plumbed in shows actual boost to be up to 30psi, but this is revo stage 2.2012 Octavia vRS TDI. Darkside big turbo, 3bar tune, other stuff. 200kW/650Nm.

So my problem is fixed....
By itself.....
After driving the 1400 km to cairns to be told nothing is wrong with the car.
Literally a few hours before I reached cairns the long term stats flicked over 99 hours 59 minutes and reset, so when the service department looked at it it was reading long term average of 5.5 L/100 km, not the 10.6 it was reading when I left home.
Service department could not fault the car. I provided them with evidence of 7 tank fills of 11.5 L/100 km and was told this was acceptable. Salesman who sold us the car has been brilliant, said that was crap and said to go and do some urban k's for another average.
Filled tank and drove round cairns for the afternoon, clocked up 150km driving like I stole it, went and refilled and the ****ing thing returned 8.8L/100km.
now driving home and the distance to empty is like 900 k's on a full tank, long term average on mfd is 7.6 L/100 km after about 400 km of mixed highway and hill climb thrashing (gillies range/highway if anyone is familiar).
Glad in one regard, completely pissed in another.
Just spent 5 days and god knows how much on accommodation and food and fuel to have it working properly but no idea why!
Thanks to all who posted ideas and advice previously. I'll see how it holds up once I get it home.

I must admit I have been pretty impressed on the fuel economy on mine even though we have only done about 500km. We are getting long term averages at around 7.5 by the display with mostly urban driving.Sword Dude

For the record no VNT 17 is going to produce safe boost beyond 24 psi, any more is a spike or an inaccurate or improperly dampened boost gauge. You have to jump up into GTBs to get into sustained 26psi plus.2014 Skoda Yeti TDI Outdoor 4x4 | Audi Q3 CFGC repower | Darkside tune and Race Cams | Darkside dump pDPF | Wagner Comp IC | Snow Water Meth | Bilstein B6 H&R springs | Rays Homura 2x7 18 x 8" 255 Potenza Sports | Golf R subframe | Superpro sways and bushings | 034 engine mounts | MK6 GTI brakes |

Best I've managed on a trip is 4.8L/100Km's on the MFD. 2012 125TDI Passat wagon.
Estimated range was showing around 1400km's. Car had 40K Km's on the clock at the time... I've found that oil age definitely makes a difference....(anecdotally)More opportunites have been lost from indecision, rather than wrong decision....

Yeti 103TDI lifetime average fuel consumption over 40,000km is 7.33L/100km mixed motorway and city driving. The MFD lies - I think about 10% optimistic. Fuel consumption has improved over the first 20,000km starting from mid-high 7s, presumably due to expected compression improvement with use.
With lots of short trips, I'd expect worse fuel consumption. Depends on how short the short trips are.
