  • Fuel filter case o-ring for MkVI Golf

Does anyone know if these can be purchased separately from the fuel filter?

I have found that mine has a split in it, causing a very slight fuel weep. And could there be any cause other than installing it dry (serviced by dealer 6 months ago)?

Just go to the dealer let them fix it or offer them to give you a new Oring and DIY, if you're 100% sure that the Oring is the problem.

The CBC Bearings could have the Oring as well.

Don't mess around with fuel systems. Much better to call the dealer that did the original work and get them to fix it than to call the fire dept...

        ...very unlikely on the diesel.

But, they should get the chance to fix their mistake.

          Yep, return to the dealer.

Pretty sure the O-ring can be ordered on its own, but VW keeping one here in Australia would be unlikely. They'll just put another filter in it, along with a new O-ring.

But yeah, the fault is probably caused by a dry install. You need to use a lot of silicone spray on them and seat it correctly before tightening the fasteners.

Ah yes should have checked the forum area before posting

Yes much better that the technician learn from their mistake otherwise they'll likely do the same thing next time also.

That's an example of why, where possible, I do my own maintenance. (Fluids aside v difficult)
I'm retired but for some people time is precious and like me have a way to go to get back for them to fix their mistake.

                Thanks Transporter and Umai Naa!!

Would this be the right one? Genuine Wesfil Fuel Filter WCF130 | eBay
If it is, then I'll hit a bearing shop, before installing, to try and find another one to keep the kit complete.

I'm kinda short of time to be stuffing around with the stealer

Msg me the Vin mate and I can find out for you along with the price of one. They can be installed dry without issues, main problems I see dealer mechanics have is that they don't tighten the cover down equally and cause the o-ring to pinch.

It looks like the right one, though be careful the aftermarket fuel filters can cause the problems, even the Oring doesn't have to be the right size.

                      Is this one preferable, then?

After discussing the WesFil brand with my mechanic (who services our other car), I got the WesFil WCF130 filter and used the o-ring from that (which was exactly the right size) to replace the split one, wetting it first with the diesel in the filter housing and then torquing up progressively in wheel nut/cylinder head fashion.

One week later and it's all dry and clean Thanks to all, here.
