  • Flow Map for a K24 turbo???

    Hi there,

I just picked up a KKK K24-6082 turbo off an '82 1.6 Golf TDi...

I'm trying to figure out if it's actually useful or not for giving me a little extra kick in an aircooled project.

Does anyone have a flow map for this turbo, or any other info on it???

    Thanks,
    Rick

hey mate. the k24 is similar in performance to the much more common garrett T3. quite big really, i would think too big for you, unless your going bigger than 2l and planning plenty of boost at high revs.

i think i might have seen a k24 turbo map around before, might have been somewhere on the www.vwdiesel.net forum - look in the FAQ section in a thread called something like "technical info, lots of turbo maps".

    good luck,

    aydan

PS - if you find that the k24 is too big, i'd love to swap you for a k14, which is about the same size as a k03 or garret T2 - much more appropriate for a small petrol engine. i only play with diesels so the big turbo is attractive.

That sounds like it could work well for both of us... Which version of the K14 do you have???

I didn't find a map for my K24, but I did find one for the Garret that was on the 1.6 TDi, and apparently it's very close.

I'm thinking about a low boost (under 10psi) setup for a VW Type IV 1700. But I'm just tossing ideas around at the moment.

i have the k-14 with the smaller compressor housing, used on a version of the 1.6TD, as opposed to the larger compressor housing one used on the 1.9 TD engines.

the turbo you choose is up to you, but i would go for something on the smaller side since you only wanting low boost and at that capacity, i would say that a small turbo like the k-14 would be ideal - less lag and more than capable to give you the boost well into the high rev range
