Just point them to Le Mans. Who won again?
First time I drove a diesel golf, I actually scared my self coming out of a 2nd gear left corner. Turbo came on and nearly sent me into the traffic on the other side of the road. Yes, it had been 'modified'. I was a convert from then on.
And to top it off, I just did 120km mostly highway but 20% city, in my A3 and averaged 3.7L/100.
