That's what I'm thinking! I was looking at sourcing a stainless vband flange and nice big flexjoint. I'd much prefer a big unrestricted downpipe opposed to just cat back exhaust. Why not both ehh! *mexican family dancing* 3" all the way through?

and the beauty is that with a gt1749vc it still uses vband to bolt up to the downpipe. Would have to buy a flange and mod the downpipe later if I was to end up getting a gtb2260vk which I'm thinking would just be overkill anyway... Still got some investigating and thinking to do. Realistically it won't happen for a while if it ever does. I'm hoping the tune will give me some punch and then I'll leave it alone. + I have a spare factory turbo anyway haha so can't even use the excuse of if mine goes bust! lol

I just don't want the exhaust to be noisy. The drone from the 2.5" on my last vr6 have me nightmares. My own fault though!

you wont get much noise with the stock turbo on there, dont worry.

Yeah did a fair amount of YouTube stalking this arvo. They don't sound too bad at all 3" turbo back straight through. Might just add a muffler though to be sure.

Exhaust and tune and leave it alone.

Maybe put some $$ towards GTI brakes and headlights!

Agreed Woody. After a lot of research I can't be bothered and it ends up too pricey to do it right. Will just get my tune done and play with wheels.

Even upgrading brakes is an effort as I need a whole new hub setup and then will need new front suspension. (this is the 50mm setup opposed to most mk5s being 55mm) Not wasting coin on silly things like fancy headlights!

That's a good thing! Annoyingly loud exhausts suck. I only want to do it for performance and soot gains.

Everyone always wants a loud car, until they've actually had one.

Yep, have had loud mk3 vr6s for nearly 5 years. I'm enjoying the quiet comfy cruiser aspect and not drawing attention to myself haha

I contemplated just punching the cat out of the stock system so that visually everything looks factory and legal but flow is improved. I was going to do this when we had it unbolted during the head swap but I didn't get around to it.

I should stop being lazy and use the tuning box and sort out my tune. Probably should add a boost gauge to keep an eye on it. Been meaning to talk to you about this Ayden. Have a plan to tap it into the egr valve (after gutting it) using the factory fitting which is now useless so it all looks like it was there from factory. Might require more blanks and some welding. Will pull off my egr off the spare engine to have a look and figure out how to go about doing it.

My focus recently though has been on refurbishing wheels... hopefully have some bling rollers on it soon.

I wanted to do the exhaust on the audi soon but then I went and crashed into someone so its gonna be at the panel beaters for 2 weeks from Monday
